Studio Candor launched online in March 2020 (seven days before lockdown) and opened its physical Observatory location in 2021. Founded by Maya-Rose (Senior Director) with designer/creative director Ashby (Tess Ashby). The brand has a distinctive black and gold storefront and creates 'the lovechild of vintage and leisure' - comfortable, timeless, gender-neutral pieces. They've obtained BBBEE certification and actively address inclusivity issues. The brand also operates The Candor Market in Rondebosch Park (monthly markets in 2025) and hosts a multi-brand studio space. Customer reviews consistently praise the softness of fabrics, affordable prices, gender-fluid designs, personalized service, and the brand's educational approach to sustainability issues. Studio Candor also offers CMT (Cut-Make-Trim) services for other brands.
