AKJP Studio was founded in 2016 by fashion designer Keith Henning (formerly Adriaan Kuiters) and artist Jody Paulsen as a fashion concept store. The name stands for Adriaan Kuiters + Jody Paulsen. Their own label is recognized as one of South Africa's most innovative brands, bringing contemporary cool to the fashion landscape. In 2015, AKJP was a finalist at Vogue Italia's Who Is On Next? Dubai, and in 2016 presented at Pitti Uomo in Florence as part of Generation Africa. The label features artful contemporary twists on classic menswear and womenswear, with signature layering, boxy silhouettes, and asymmetrical detailing. Jody Paulsen creates limited edition artistic prints inspired by Henri Matisse, Hans Arp, and David Hockney using paper cutouts that are digitized and printed. The studio recently introduced AKJP BAR, a café/bar showcasing local production with all components sourced locally. Every 4-6 weeks they launch new window installations showcasing collections or designers. The space also offers event facilities fostering community. Open Mon-Wed 9am-6pm, Thur-Sat 9am-8pm.
